Product description
Video GDPR replaces the embeds on your site — YouTube, Vimeo, Google Maps, an Instagram post, any iframe — with a local façade: a thumbnail stored on your own domain and a play button. No provider script, cookie, CDN request or API call happens until the visitor clicks. Once installed, you’re the sole owner: everything runs on your server, with no external account and no dependency on our uptime.
Why “nothing loads until the click” — literally?
A standard embed connects to the provider the moment the page renders, handing over the visitor’s IP address and usually setting cookies, before any banner is answered. Some privacy plugins still fire a deferred script or a preconnect. Video GDPR fires zero third-party requests before the click. The only outbound call it ever makes is server-to-server, once per thumbnail, to fetch and store that image — and strict offline mode disables even that.
Three ways to add an embed
- Paste a URL. With automatic detection on, a video or social URL on its own line becomes a façade — no shortcode.
- Use the Gutenberg block, or the
[[privacy_video]]/[[privacy_embed]]shortcodes, anywhere shortcodes run. - Use the native Video GDPR element in Bricks or widget in Elementor, or an ACF / Meta Box “oEmbed” field.
Included
- Video providers with an automatic local thumbnail: YouTube (via youtube-nocookie.com), Vimeo, Wistia, Dailymotion, Loom, TikTok, self-hosted MP4 / WebM
- Social posts shown as a local card, with the official widget loaded only after the click: X, Instagram, Facebook, Bluesky, TikTok
- Twitch (channel, VOD, clip), Google Maps, OpenStreetMap with a server-rendered preview, calendars, forms, any iframe
- Anonymous per-video statistics — impressions, plays, play-through rate, completion — with no cookie, no IP, no visitor identifier, and no third-party analytics tool
- Bridges to Complianz, Borlabs, Cookiebot and CookieYes: an already-consenting visitor doesn’t click twice
#noembedmarkers to keep any URL a plain link, and a per-page override for automatic detection- Full control of the façade: ratio, play-button style, colours, notice text — site-wide or per embed
- English, French and Spanish out of the box

FAQ
Do I need to code or configure anything?
No. Activate it and, with automatic detection on by default, a video URL pasted into your content becomes a façade on its own. The block, shortcodes and native builder elements are there for more control.
Does it replace my cookie banner?
No — you still need a consent manager for analytics and ads. But it removes the reason to put that banner in front of every page with a video: the embed no longer loads anything before consent.
Which providers does it support?
YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia, Dailymotion, Loom, TikTok, Twitch and self-hosted MP4 / WebM for video; X, Instagram, Facebook and Bluesky for social; Google Maps, OpenStreetMap, calendars, forms and any iframe.
Will it slow my site down?
It speeds it up. A page with five videos loads five local images instead of five third-party players, their scripts and their fonts.
Does it collect any analytics?
Optionally and anonymously — impressions, plays and completion per video, with no cookie, no IP, no visitor identifier and no third-party tool. Because there’s no personal data, it needs no separate consent.
Does the plugin make outbound requests?
One, server-to-server, per thumbnail — once, to fetch and store the image. Never from the visitor’s browser. Strict offline mode disables even that.
What happens if I don't renew the licence?
The plugin keeps working. Only the one-click updates stop until you renew.
Is it translated?
English, French and Spanish out of the box; the visitor-facing notice and button text also ship in German, Italian and Dutch.
